We are a Lutheran Church that shares a living and daring confidence in God’s grace. Liberated by our faith, we embrace you as a whole person – questions, uncertainties, complexities, flaws and all.
Join us as we worship and do God’s work in Christ’s name for the city of Cape Town.
Worship stands at the centre of our life of faith and work. Worship unites us in celebration, engages us in thoughtful dialogue, and helps us grow in faith. As we respond to the Commandment, ‘Remember the Sabbath Day to keep it holy’, we honour and love God by gladly hearing His word eternal life in Jesus’ very presence.
There is a basic pattern for worship among Lutherans. We gather. We encounter God’s word. We respond in prayer and praise. We share a meal at the Lord’s table. And we are sent into the world. But we do not think about worship so much in terms of what we do. Worship is fundamentally about what Go d is doing and our response to God’s action. Worship is an encounter with God, who saves us through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Something very special occurs when two of more Christians gather together in God’s name. We believe that it is as close as we get to heaven on earth, because God is there in a way that we can hear, see and taste. In his amazing grace, God initiates worship. He gathers us, forgives us, speaks to us, listens to us, and sends us out renewed to be “lights for the world”.
“Anyone who is to find Christ must first find the church. How could anyone know where Christ is, and what faith is in him, unless he knew where his believers are?” – Martin Luther
